Assistant Camp Directors support the smooth operation of a single camp site — supervising staff, planning programs, delighting parents, and so much more.  This role is seasonal, Part Time or Full Time, working Monday - Friday.    YOU WILL - With Camp Director, oversee daily operations of camp, creating a high energy, organized, professional experience for campers and staff - Assist the Camp Director in overall support and management of camp staff, as well as administrative tasks - Lead and manage up to 20 staff members, ensuring quality group leadership, high energy and overall professional performance - Assist in classrooms and providing coverage and support as needed, including potentially leading camper groups or delivering curriculum - Provide excellent customer service to camp families to ensure a professional, positive, and memorable experience - Contribute to and participate in check-in and check-out, daily opening and closing ceremonies, all-camp activities, and snack & lunch supervision and programming - If needed, manage the Extended Care program, including staffing assignments and activity planning - Maintain safe environments for all campers - The Assistant Camp Director will report to the Camp Director  YOU HAVE - College degree preferred but not required - Demonstrated leadership experience - Administrative experience - Experience working with kids or in a camp setting - Genuine love for and interest in working with children and/or education - Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy, and exceptional enthusiasm each day - Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently  - Desire to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally - Strong organization skills and attention to detail - Great communication skills, both written and verbal - Must be at least 18 years of age by May 26, 2023 - Valid CPR/First Aid certification OR ability to become certified prior to the start of camp - <CA only> Valid Mandatory Report Certification OR ability to complete certification prior to the start of camp   At Galileo Camps we value divergent thinkers who bring many different experiences and viewpoints to the table! Whether leading a classroom or supporting their teammates, Onsite Substitutes help bring to life Galileo's curriculum, thoughtfully created by our year-round curriculum design team. We believe that our approach to learning isn’t merely a philosophy—it is a tool that will help shape the worldview of future innovators. YOU WILL - When scheduled to fill an Instructor absence, prepare for and teach three rotations of Galileo curriculum as a multi-subject instructor (art, science, and innovation design challenges) and/or outdoor play to groups of up to 30 campers, typically repeating the lesson with three different groups of campers in the same age group - Teach the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers, and capturing feedback to share with curriculum developers - Occasionally fill non-Instructor absences - When not scheduled to fill an absence, provide support in whatever way most benefits your team. The Substitute Instructor role is the perfect opportunity for those inspired by the idea of a Galileo summer, and who are open to or require a more flexible summer commitment.    YOU WILL - Travel to multiple sites within a geographic region, providing support in whatever way most benefits the specific camp team with whom you work on any assigned day - Prepare for and teach rotations of Galileo curriculum to groups of up to 30 campers, typically repeating the lesson with three different groups of campers in the same age group - Elementary K-5th: Prepare for and teach three rotations of Galileo curriculum to groups of up to 30 campers as a multi-subject instructor (art, science, and innovation design challenges) and/or outdoor play instructor. Final placement will be determined during training.  - STEAM 5th-8th: Prepare for and teach three rotations of Galileo curriculum per day in innovation, design challenges, and/or outdoor play to groups of up to 30 campers. This age group will utilize power tools such as drills to complete larger week-long projects. - Teach the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers, and capturing feedback to share with curriculum developers - Maintain safe environments for all campers and provide leadership and camp spirit to all campers - Contribute to and participate in daily camp activities, including check-in and check-out, opening/closing ceremonies and snack & lunch supervision and programming as needed - Substitutes will report to the Staff Coverage Team and receive professional development and ongoing coaching YOU HAVE - College degree preferred but not required - Experience working with kids or in a camp setting a plus - Genuine love for and interest in working with children and/or education - Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy, and exceptional enthusiasm each day - Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently  - Desire to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally - Strong organization skills and attention to detail - Great communication skills, both written and verbal - Must be at least 18 years of age by May 26, 2023 - <CA only> Valid Mandatory Report Certification OR ability to complete certification prior to the start of camp   At Galileo Camps we value divergent thinkers who bring many different experiences and viewpoints to the table!
