The Substitute Camp Counselor role is the perfect opportunity for those inspired by the idea of a Galileo summer, and who are open to or require a more flexible summer commitment.   YOU WILL - Travel to multiple sites within a geographic region, providing support in whatever way most benefits the specific camp team with whom you work on any assigned day - Lead your team of up to 20 campers each week and assist Instructors in delivering curriculum, clean up, set up or lesson preparation - Fill in for other roles, supporting smooth camp operation through a variety of tasks that vary from lesson material preparation and clean up to sign making - Provide excellent customer service to families and guardians daily - Contribute to and participate in daily camp activities, including check-in and check-out, opening/closing ceremonies, extended care, and snack & lunch supervision and programming - Maintain a safe environment and provide leadership and camp spirit to all campers - Substitutes will report to the Staff Coverage Team and receive professional development and ongoing coaching YOU HAVE - College degree preferred but not required - Experience working with kids or in a camp setting a plus - Genuine love for and interest in working with children and/or education - Ability to maintain an excellent work ethic, a high level of energy, and exceptional enthusiasm each day - Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently  - Desire to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally - Strong organization skills and attention to detail - Great communication skills, both written and verbal - Must be at least 18 years of age by May 26, 2023 - <CA only> Valid Mandatory Report Certification OR ability to complete certification prior to the start of camp   At Galileo Camps we value divergent thinkers who bring many different experiences and viewpoints to the table!
